Beschrijving voorzijde	Stylized church facade or temple structure depicted in the center of the field, rendered in a schematic Ottonian manner with a triangular pediment surmounted by a globus, flanked by towers with rounded finials. A large crescent form frames the lower portion of the building. The legend SCA MARIA is distributed around the architectural motif in crude Latin characters, invoking the dedication of Hildesheim Cathedral to the Virgin Mary.

Beschrijving keerzijde	A plain cross pattée at center, with the letters O-D-D-O distributed one in each canton, spelling the name of King Otto III. A circular inner ring encloses the cross and cantonal letters. The surrounding legend reads ODDO +DI GRA+ REX, invoking the king's name and the Dei Gratia Rex title in crude Ottonian letterforms, with pellet stops separating the elements.
