Obverse description Central field occupied by a large floriated or anchored cross with trefoil terminals, struck in high relief within a plain inner circle. The cross design features hollow lobed angles between the arms, creating a distinctive ornamental appearance characteristic of Breton feudal coinage of the late 12th to mid-13th century. A circular Latin legend surrounds the inner circle, reading DVX BRITANE, introduced by a cross pattée. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, consistent with hammered production, and the overall style is bold and archaic.
