| Obverse description | Within a plain inner circle, a crozier cross is depicted in the center of the field, with the two arms of the cross rendered in bold relief. A small pellet or annulet appears above the cross, and two crescent-like devices flank the lower portion of the composition. The overall design is characteristic of the anonymous episcopal bracteat coinage of Basel, executed in the hammered style typical of 12th-century Rhenish ecclesiastical issues. |
