| Beschrijving keerzijde | Schematic representation of a walled city with three towers, a common civic emblem on episcopal coinage of the Augsburg mint. The central tower is flanked by two lateral towers, all rising above a crenellated wall rendered in a highly stylized, flat manner consistent with Romanesque coin art of the late 11th century. The architectural motif symbolizes the city of Augusta Vindelicorum (Augsburg). The surrounding legend AVGVSTA CIVIT identifies the issuing city. The flan is irregular and slightly cracked at the edge, as is typical for hammered coinage of this period. |
