| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field features a bold plain cross with elongated shaft occupying the inner circle, which is bounded by a beaded or dotted border. The cross divides the inner field into four plain quadrants, rendered in strong relief. The surrounding circular legend, introduced by a cross pattée, reads SC-I PETRI MONETA, identifying this as the coinage of Saint Peter, the patron of the Abbey of Corbie at Corbie. The lettering is set between the inner beaded circle and the outer irregular toothed rim, consistent with Carolingian monastic mint practice of the mid-to-late ninth century. |
