Beschrijving keerzijde A walking stag portrayed in profile to the left, with a patriarchal cross rising before it and a star in the upper field; the composition reflects the traditional Hungarian heraldic motif of the stag and cross associated with the legend of Saint Hubert. The design is executed in the rough, stylized manner typical of Árpád-dynasty deniers, with a beaded inner border visible around the circumference.

Aanvullende informatie

Andrew II's reign was defined less by monetary policy than by the 1222 Golden Bull — Hungary's foundational constitutional document, extracted from him by rebellious nobles and often compared to Magna Carta, sealed just seven years prior. His chronic fiscal desperation, partly the result of extravagant land grants that gutted royal income, drove repeated debasements across the series. The deniers attributed to his reign show measurable decline in fineness as the period progresses.
