Obverse description Plain cross with a pellet in each of the first and second quarters, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend, in Latin, reads AMEDEVS, identifying the issuing count. The design is characteristic of early medieval feudal coinage, struck on an irregular flan with variable strike quality typical of hand-hammered production.
