Facing bust of Count Albert II rendered in crude, high-relief hammered style characteristic of 11th-century Mosan coinage. The effigy occupies the central field, with broad facial features schematically delineated. Partial legend ALBERTVS runs around the periphery, though much of the inscription is weak or off-flan due to the irregular planchet. The overall style reflects the primitive die-cutting conventions of the County of Namur during this period. |

A short cross with forked or bifurcated tips dominates the central field, with a small annelet at the center point. A lozenge or wedge-shaped ornament is placed in each of the four angles of the cross, a decorative motif typical of 11th-century deniers from the Lower Lotharingian region. The surrounding legend, partially visible due to the irregular flan, reads DEONAM, a contracted form of Dinant. The design is executed in the hammered style with characteristic unevenness of strike. |
