Obverse description Central field bears a stylized episcopal figure rendered in the primitive Romanesque manner typical of southern French feudal coinage, possibly representing the archbishop, depicted frontally with a rounded head surmounting a columnar body. The design is enclosed within a plain inner circle, surrounded by an uncial Latin legend reading NARBONE CIVI, denoting the city of Narbonne. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, consistent with hand-hammered production, and the relief is low with somewhat worn detail across the field.
