| Beschrijving keerzijde | A central cross pattée divides the field into four quarters, with two crescents and two six-pointed stars alternating between the arms of the cross in a symmetrical arrangement. The design is executed in low hammered relief, surrounded by the mint legend within a beaded border. This reverse type is characteristic of the episcopal deniers of Metz from the 14th century. |

Adhémar of Monteil held the See of Metz during one of the most turbulent stretches of 14th-century Lorraine, a period defined by persistent friction between the bishop-princes and the burghers of Metz, who had been expanding communal autonomy aggressively since the previous century. The city's merchant class and the episcopal authority clashed repeatedly over jurisdiction and coinage rights — the right to strike money being inseparable from political control in the region.
Flon catalogues at least three die varieties across this type, suggesting continuous if modest production across his tenure.
