| Beschrijving keerzijde | A Latin cross mounted on three graduated steps occupies the central field, a composition symbolizing the crux gemmata and characteristic of Beneventan ecclesiastical iconography of the ninth century. The cross is boldly rendered in relief, with clearly delineated steps beneath its base. A circular peripheral legend in Latin surrounds the central device, with letter spacing occasionally punctuated by interpuncts. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, consistent with hand-hammered production techniques of the period. |
