The bishop's name legend partially reads (+AD)EL(BER)O EP(S), arranged around the periphery of the flan, though the irregular, hand-struck planchet causes portions of the inscription to fall off the edge. The overall style is characteristic of Ottonian-era episcopal coinage, with bold but somewhat crude engraving typical of late 10th to early 11th century Rhenish ecclesiastical mints.
