Bohemond III ruled Antioch for nearly four decades after his mother Constance's regency collapsed under political pressure from the commune and the Latin Patriarch Aimery of Limoges — one of the more turbulent succession crises in crusader history. The deniers struck during his majority are distinguished from regency issues by subtle die characteristics catalogued across Metcalf's classes, with Class H representing a later phase of production showing progressive die degradation typical of a mint operating without systematic replacement schedules.
Billon composition varied considerably across the series, and spot-testing individual pieces against published weight ranges remains worthwhile.
