Reverse description A bold cross pattée occupies the central field, with a crescent positioned in the second quarter. Subsidiary decorative elements include a double-barred A with an annulet at each terminal and an ornamented C, characteristic of the Crusader workshop style of Antioch. The peripheral legend reads + ANTOCNIA, identifying the mint city in abbreviated Latin. The overall design reflects the Romanesque artistic conventions prevalent in the Crusader states during the twelfth century.
