正面描述 Depicted in the field is a seated or crouching figure in profile facing right, rendered in a crude but characteristic late medieval Russian hammered style. The figure appears to wear a pointed helmet or headdress and holds an indistinct object, possibly a weapon or scepter. The flan is irregular and the strike uneven, typical of early Russian wire-money production. The field shows evidence of die wear and a rough, granular silver surface.

背面描述 The reverse bears a multi-line Cyrillic inscription arranged within the field, reading the name and title of the issuing prince Yuri Dmitrievich of Zvenygorod. The lettering is characteristic of early 15th-century Russian script, struck in a crude hammered fashion on an irregular planchet. The inscription is surrounded by a partial border of dots or a linear frame, with the legend filling most of the available field. The strike is uneven, with some letters weakly impressed due to the irregular flan.

附加信息

Yuri Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod was the second son of Dmitry Donskoy, the prince who defeated the Mongols at Kulikovo Field in 1380. After his father's death in 1389, Yuri received Zvenigorod and Galich as his appanage — and almost immediately began minting, a right that carried explicit political weight in a region still nominally under Tatar overlordship. His reign was defined by a prolonged succession dispute with his nephew Vasily II of Moscow, a conflict that intermittently erupted into open warfare after 1425 and twice forced Vasily from the throne.

Zvenigorod dengas from this period are among the earlier examples of Moscow-adjacent apanage coinage and show considerable die variation across the long span of issue.
