Vasily II inherited the Moscow throne at age ten in 1425, and the coinage of his early reign reflects the fractured political reality that followed — his authority was almost immediately contested by his uncle Yuri of Zvenigorod, triggering a dynastic war that would consume most of the next two decades. The denga issues attributed to this first period, before Yuri's forces seized Moscow in 1433, are products of a mint operating under a court still finding its footing.
HP II#1768С places this piece within Hrishankov's systematic die-link analysis, which remains the primary tool for separating the overlapping Moscow issues of the 1420s from those of the rival Zvenigorodian claimants who briefly controlled the city.
