| Reverse description | A fantastical chimera or composite beast depicted in left profile, striding across the field in a dynamic pose. The creature features a quadruped body with an elongated serpentine neck and a clearly articulated head, rendered in the bold, linear style typical of Muscovite denga coinage of the early 15th century. The reverse field is unencumbered by legend, allowing the mythological beast to dominate the composition. The design is characteristic of the Tatar-influenced decorative vocabulary absorbed into early Moscow coinage during this period. The irregular flan edges and variable strike are consistent with hand-hammered production. |
