Obverse description Central field occupied by a multi-line Cyrillic inscription arranged in three horizontal registers within a dotted inner border, reading the title and name of Grand Prince Vasily. The legend is rendered in an archaic Muscovite hand characteristic of early fifteenth-century wire money production. The coin's irregular flan, typical of hammered Russian denga coinage of this period, is enclosed by a beaded outer border that follows the uneven edge.
