Obverse description Cyrillic inscription arranged across the field in multiple lines, reading the title and name of Grand Prince Vasily. The legend is distributed across the flan in the characteristic manner of early Moscow wire money, with individual letters formed in a bold, somewhat crude hand typical of hammered medieval Russian coinage. The flat, irregular flan shows natural edge irregularities consistent with the wire-cutting method of production.
