The inscription references Sultan Toktamysh Khan, though the legend is rendered in a degraded, formulaic manner by a Muscovite die-cutter unfamiliar with Arabic script. Dot embellishments appear within and around the frame. A mirrored and distorted reverse variety (HP II, 1357 D) is also recorded for this type. |
