Obverse description Crudely rendered figure, possibly a mounted warrior or standing person, struck in the center of an irregular flan typical of early Russian hammered coinage. The design is executed in low relief with a rough, primitive artistic style characteristic of appanage-period Russian dengas. The field is uneven and shows the irregular surface of the hand-cut silver blank. Design details are worn and partially indistinct, consistent with the rudimentary die-cutting techniques of the Suzdal mint under Muscovite administration.
