Obverse description A mounted horseman in profile to right, depicted at full gallop, brandishing a raised sabre. The figure is rendered in the characteristic flat, linear style of Russian wire money. The Cyrillic letters ДЕ appear beneath the hooves of the horse, serving as a mint or engraver attribution mark. The design occupies an irregularly shaped flan typical of the wire-money (cheshuyка) production technique.
