| Obverse description | Facing bust of a bearded ruler in profile to the right, depicted wearing a tall crown or helmet with layered ornamental bands, rendered in the crude but characteristic wire-money style typical of late medieval Muscovite coinage. The figure occupies the central field of the irregularly shaped flan, with the portrait showing summary facial features consistent with hammered denga production of the late 15th century. The field surrounding the bust is plain, with the design constrained by the uneven edges of the planchet. The style reflects the artistic conventions of the Moscow mint under Ivan III. |
