Obverse description Irregular flan struck by hammer, displaying a Cyrillic legend arranged within a beaded border encircling the central field. The inscription reads the title and name of the issuing prince, rendered in a characteristic late-medieval Russian wire-money script. The die-work is typical of Moscow workshop production of the mid-fifteenth century, with shallow relief and irregular strike distribution across the planchet. Portions of the legend may be partially off-flan due to the nature of the chekanka technique employed.
