Reverse description The reverse bears a four-line Cyrillic inscription arranged across the field, reading 'Князь Иван Андреевич', identifying the issuing prince Ivan Andreevich of Mozhaysk. The lettering is rendered in the angular, compressed Cyrillic script typical of Russian wire money and denga coinage of the fifteenth century. A partial beaded border frames the inscription. The irregular flan and variable strike depth are consistent with the hand-hammered production technique of the period.
