| Obverse description | Central field dominated by a stylized frontal face or mask, rendered in a highly schematic manner characteristic of early Ryazan coinage. Two prominent circular eyes are depicted, the left filled with a raised boss and the right with a concentric ring design, suggesting influence from Tatar artistic conventions. Below the eyes, a broad angular form suggests a stylized nose and mouth or beard. The surrounding flat field is unadorned, and the flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, typical of hand-hammered medieval Russian dengas. No legible legend is present, consistent with the imitative Arabic script tradition of this series. |
