Obverse description Central field displays the interlaced Cyrillic monogram of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna (ЕР), crowned with the Imperial Russian crown above and flanked on either side by laurel and palm branches tied at the base with a ribbon. The date is incorporated within the monogram, with the numerals split to the left and right of the central cipher. The design is executed in a refined baroque style characteristic of mid-18th century Russian coinage.
