| Reverse description | The reverse bears a four-line Cyrillic inscription filling the entire field of the irregular oval flan, reading the titulature of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. The lettering is executed in the bold, angular semi-uncial script characteristic of mid-seventeenth-century Muscovite coinage, with individual characters closely packed to fit the available surface. The inscription is the primary design element, with no border or additional decorative motifs. Slight weakness in strike is visible at the flan edges due to the hammered wire production method. |
