| Obverse description | Pseudo-Arabic inscription filling the field in imitation of Mongol-Tatar coinage, rendered in a stylized, non-legible script that mimics the appearance of genuine Arabic lettering. A fragmentary trace of a Cyrillic inscription appears along the upper margin of the flan. The overall design reflects the common Rus' practice of imitating Jochid coinage during the late 14th century. The irregular flan exhibits a dotted border around the periphery. The engraving is crude and characteristic of hammered provincial Rus' silver coinage of this period. |

Starodub was a minor appanage principality in northeastern Rus', and Alexander Patrikeyevich's tenure was brief even by the fractured standards of post-Mongol succession politics. The denga type assigned to his reign spans no more than two years — a window narrow enough that surviving examples are genuinely scarce rather than merely undervalued.
