Reverse description Central design features a frontal bust of the Patriarch, mitred and vested, raising his right hand in benediction and holding a patriarchal cross-staff in his left hand. The figure is rendered in schematic Romanesque style, seated or rising from a decorative foliate base with stylized vegetal scrollwork below, a common compositional device on Aquileian denari of this period. A dotted inner circle encloses the central motif, while the circular Latin legend ✠ VOLF KЄR · P · — an abbreviated form of Volkerus Patriarcha — runs between the inner and outer beaded borders. The irregular flan exhibits typical hammer-struck distortion along the rim.
