| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, a nimbate eagle is depicted in profile facing right, its wings partially spread and body rendered in detailed relief characteristic of Romanesque hammered coinage. The eagle's talons are visible at the base of the design, gripping the lower field. Surrounding the inner circle, the Latin legend ✠ CIVITAS · AQVILЄGIA runs along the outer border, identifying the city of Aquileia as issuing authority. The overall composition is bold and stylized, consistent with early 13th-century North Italian ecclesiastical mint work. |
