| Reverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, the Patriarch is depicted enthroned in full frontal view, wearing pontifical vestments and a miter. He raises a processional cross in his right hand and holds a book of the Gospels in his left, the legend divided on either side of his figure. The Latin inscription ✠ VOLF KЄR · P · flanks the enthroned figure, identifying him as Volker, Patriarch. The composition follows the standard Aquileian denaro type of the period, with a hieratic, symmetrical rendering of the ecclesiastical ruler in the manner of Romanesque church art. |
