Obverse description A bold cross potent occupies the central field, enclosed within a raised reeded inner circle. The quadrants formed by the arms of the cross are decorated with small cross-pattée ornaments, visible between the inner circle and the outer border. The surrounding legend, introduced by a cross, reads FERARIA in Latin characters. The overall design is characteristic of the Romanesque hammered coinage tradition of northern Italy, with a flan of irregular round shape.
