| Obverse description | Full-length frontal effigy of Bishop Giuardo enthroned, mitred and vested in episcopal robes, holding a crozier in his left hand and the Gospels in his right, set within a beaded or decorative border. The figure is rendered in the schematic Romanesque style characteristic of northern Italian episcopal coinage of the early 13th century. A circular Latin legend surrounds the enthroned figure, reading partially GIARDO or similar, identifying the issuing prelate. The field exhibits the flat, stylized treatment typical of hammered silver denari of this period. |
