Reverse description Central field displays the Gattiluso family heraldic arms enclosed within a beaded inner circle, itself set within a decorative eight-lobed (octofoil) frame with foliate detailing between the lobes. The armorial design reflects Genoese heraldic conventions adapted to the small module of this hammered bronze coinage. The peripheral legend, in Latin characters, reads * FRANCISCVS ✿ GATILVX, identifying the issuing lord as Francis II Gattilusio, ruler of Mytilene from 1396 to 1400. The coin exhibits the irregular flan and variable strike typical of late medieval hammered denari produced in the Genoese colonial mints of the Aegean.
