| Obverse description | Laureate head of Vespasian facing right, depicted with characteristic realistic portraiture of the Flavian dynasty. The emperor's effigy shows a mature, strong-featured visage with the laurel wreath of imperial authority clearly rendered. The encircling Latin legend runs along the periphery of the flan. The flan itself is irregular in shape, as is typical of hand-struck Roman denarii of this period. |
