Obverse description Laureate head of Vespasian facing right, depicted with a robust, realistically rendered portrait characteristic of Flavian imperial coinage. The emperor's features show the characteristic aged physiognomy of Vespasian, with closely cropped hair beneath the laurel wreath. The surrounding legend IMP CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG runs clockwise along the outer border of the flan. The strike is somewhat off-center, consistent with hand-hammered production at the Rome mint, and the flan exhibits slight irregularity at the edges.
