Vespasian struck coins invoking Pax heavily throughout the early 70s, and the timing was deliberate — the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD and the brutal suppression of the Jewish revolt needed reframing as Roman-sponsored peace rather than punitive conquest. The PACI AVGVSTAE coinage was part of that sustained propaganda effort, running alongside the construction of the Temple of Peace (Templum Pacis), which Vespasian dedicated in 75 AD using spoils from Judaea. RIC II.1 1466 falls squarely within that campaign year.
