Obverse description Laureate head of Vespasian facing right, rendered in bold high relief with characteristically realistic portraiture typical of Flavian coinage. The emperor's features are rendered with pronounced, fleshy jowls and a strong brow, reflecting the veristic artistic tradition of the period. The legend encircles the effigy along the periphery of the flan, which is irregular and slightly uneven as characteristic of hand-struck Roman silver coinage of this era.
