Reverse description Libertas, draped, standing left, holding a pileus (freedman's cap) in her extended right hand and a long vindicta (rod of manumission) vertically in her left hand. The personification is rendered in a classical style, her drapery falling in naturalistic folds. The figure embodies the Flavian propaganda of restored Republican liberties following the civil wars of 69 AD. The reverse legend is disposed in two lines across the field, flanking the standing figure.
