| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Vespasian facing left, with strongly modelled features including a pronounced brow and square jaw characteristic of Flavian portraiture. The emperor is depicted with bare neck and shoulders, the laurel wreath rendered in fine relief around the head. The encircling Latin legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan, partially visible given the irregular striking. The portrait conveys the realistic, unidealized style typical of Roman imperial coinage of the Flavian period. |
