| Reverse description | Two upright laurel trees or branches flanking a central rectangular altar or base, upon which the consular legend is inscribed within a rectangular tablet. The composition is symmetrical, with the branches rising prominently on either side of the central element, their foliage rendered in careful detail. This reverse type alludes to the Augustan laurel trees placed before the Palatine house, symbolising imperial authority and victory. The design occupies the full field of the flan, with the legend contained within the central panel. |
