| Obverse description | Laureate head of Vespasian facing right, portrayed with characteristic realistic features in the veristic Roman imperial tradition. The emperor's effigy displays a slightly fleshy face with a sturdy neck, rendered with naturalistic detail typical of Flavian portraiture. The circumferential legend IMP CAES VESP AVG P M runs around the field, partially visible despite die wear. The flan is slightly irregular in shape, as is characteristic of hammered silver coinage of this period. |
