Obverse lettering IMP CAESAR VESPAS AVG COS V TR P P P
(Translation: Imperator Caesar Vespasianus Augustus, Consul Quintum, Tribunicia Potestate, Pater Patriae. Supreme commander (Imperator) Caesar Vespasian, emperor (Augustus), consul for the fifth time, holder of tribunician power, father of the nation.)
Reverse description The reverse features the abbreviated legend AVG inscribed in large, bold Roman capitals within the centre of a finely detailed oak wreath (corona civica), tied at the base with a ribbon or bow. The wreath is rendered with individual leaves and acorns depicted with careful workmanship, filling the reverse field almost entirely. The plain surrounding field and the civic crown motif together emphasise the honorific title of the emperor, evoking both military prestige and civic virtue.
