Obverse description Laureate head of Vespasian facing right, rendered in the naturalistic, somewhat austere portrait style characteristic of Flavian coinage. The emperor's features are individualized, with a broad forehead and strong jaw typical of his official portraiture. The bust is draped, with the paludamentum visible at the truncation. A border of small beads frames the design around the coin's irregular flan. The encircling Latin legend reads IMP CAESAR VESPAS AVG COS III TR P P P, distributed around the effigy.
