Obverse description Bare head of Apollo facing right, hair bound with a taenia and rendered in neat parallel locks; a six-pointed star appears above the head, and an acisculus (stonemason's pick) is positioned in the field behind. The legend ACISCVLVS, serving as the moneyer's cognomen, arcs around the design within a laurel-wreath border. The portrait displays the refined Hellenistic style characteristic of late Republican die-cutting.
