背面描述 Draped bust of the Cumaean Sibyl facing right, her hair elaborately coiled and bound, with fine facial features rendered in the late Republican style. The legend L•VALERIVS, identifying the moneyer Lucius Valerius Acisculus, is inscribed in the field to the right of the bust. The composition is framed by a laurel-wreath border consistent with the obverse treatment, lending the issue a unified decorative character. The Sibyl's portrayal alludes to the prophetic associations of the gens Valeria and to Cumaean traditions.

附加信息

Lucius Valerius Acisculus was one of several moneyers operating in 45 BC under the shadow of Caesar's dictatorship, a period when the traditional independence of the tresviri monetales had been effectively subordinated to Caesarian political priorities. The cognomen Acisculus — a stonemason's pick — points to a family connection with the cult of Acca Larentia or possibly the Valerian gens' religious obligations, though the exact lineage remains debated among Republican prosopographers.

RRC 474/3 is the rarer of the Acisculus issues, distinguished from 474/1 and 474/2 by its specific reverse type pairing.
