Obverse lettering IMP TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P COS V P P
(Translation: Imperator Traiano Augustus, Germanicus, Dacicus, Pontifex Maximus, Tribunicia Potestate, Consul Quintum, Pater Patriae. Supreme commander (Imperator), of Trajan, emperor (Augustus), conqueror of the Germans, conqueror of the Dacians, high priest, holder of tribunician power, consul for the fifth time, father of the nation.)
Reverse description Victory personified, nude to the waist, standing facing left in a graceful contrapposto stance. She raises a wreath in her extended right hand and holds a palm frond in her lowered left hand, while leaning against a tall column at her side — a compositional device evoking Roman martial triumph. The figure is rendered with classical elegance, her drapery falling about the lower body. The two-line reverse legend is distributed around the field, with SPQR above and OPTIMO PRINCIPI below or around the figure.
