Obverse description Laureate draped bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, with aegis visible on the left shoulder, rendered in high relief in the characteristic Roman Imperial style. The emperor's facial features are finely detailed, with a strong profile, short hair arranged in neat laurel-crowned locks, and a prominent jaw. The aegis, adorned with a serpent head at the terminal, drapes across the chest and left shoulder, signifying divine authority. The encircling Latin legend runs from lower left to right around the obverse field. The flan is irregular in shape, consistent with hand-struck hammered coinage of the early second century AD.
Obverse script Latin
Obverse lettering IMP CAES NER TRAIANO OPTIMO AVG GER DAC
(Translation: Imperator, Caesar, Nervae Traiano Optimo, Augustus, Germanicus, Dacicus. Supreme commander (Imperator), Caesar, Nerva Trajan, the best emperor (Augustus), conqueror of the Germans, conqueror of the Dacians.)
