| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, draped at the shoulder, rendered in bold high relief characteristic of early Trajanic coinage. The portrait displays the emperor's strong, idealized features with a close-cropped beard and radiate laurel wreath. The encircling legend reads IMP CAES NERVA TRAIAN AVG GERM, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The die work reflects the accomplished engraving tradition of the Rome mint during Trajan's early reign. The flan is slightly irregular and shows typical hammered fabric. |
